Includes two color maps and about 300 b/w illustrations. Sven Hedin, (1865-1952), Swedish traveler and geophysicist, was a relative of Humbolt, whose precision and lyricism he shared. A considerable account of his travels and discoveries, the present title, covers three and a half years exploration in the deserts of Takla Makan and the Lobnor region, Tsaidam and Southern Tibet from 1893 to 1897. 1255 total pages. Both volumes have a small old owner’s bookplate. There are a few spots of discoloration on both volumes. But overall a nice relatively clean set. See images.
