ANTIQUE PAIR CHINESE BOUND FOOT SHOES

Wonderful pair of antique hand made silk tapestry and cotton "Bound Foot" shoes measuring 7" in length and about 2-1/2" tall. Call Gin Lien in Chinese, these date to slightly before the turn of last century - as per family history, they were a wedding gift. The stitching up the seams is tiny and neat - they are embroidered with a trailing floral pattern on each side and finished with a butterfly and small pom-pom as shown. Trimmed in a sturdy woven textile around the edge, and lined with a padded cotton linen material on the interior, soles are covered with a sturdy fabric over layered wood.

Condition is very good - they reflect soiling, a water spot on the back heel of one, and usage marks - the soles have a hint of spotting - the interiors have light fading - no holes, tears, shredding, etc. An interesting piece of history - wonderful addition to any collection or display!
