Attention:
1) What is Carburetor?
- Carburetor Structure: The components of a carburetor usually include a liquid fuel storage chamber, a choke, an idling (or slow-running) spout, a main spout, a venturi-shaped air-flow restriction, and an accelerator pump. The amount of fuel in the reservoir is controlled by a float operated valve.
- Carburetor is a kind of oil supply device in the engine of automobile. In the middle of the air intake channel of the carburetor is a narrow throat. The air taken in by the accelerating engine creates a venturi effect to suck out, atomise and mix the fuel in the thin tube.
- Main Function: The purpose of a carburettor is to mix just the right amount of fuel with air to make the engine run properly. If there is not enough fuel mixed with the air, the engine will "run lean" and either not run or possibly damage the engine.
2) Common Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Carburetor:
- Reduced engine performance;
- Black smoke from exhaust;
- Backfiring or overheating;
- Hard starting;
Since it is the component directly responsible for providing the fuel and air needed for the engine to run, the carburetor is one of the most important components on any vehicle equipped with one, and any problems with it can greatly affect the drivability and performance of the vehicle; it is necessary to replace a failed carburetor in time.
3) How to Clean the Carburetor:
a. Close the fuel valve, remove the hose, loosen the screw, and remove the carburetor;
b. Unscrew the screw at the bottom of the carburetor, remove the float bowl, and then use a tool to pull out the float pin to remove it
c. Unload the spout
d. Unscrew the air screw and idler screw on the side, and remove the external parts
e. Clean the parts with detergent
f. After cleaning, install the float needle and fuel splash plate first, and then install the nozzle and splash plate.
g. Install external parts and floats
h. Install the carburetor
