(Serial number)

Omega watches come with a serial

number that gives you information

 on its year of production.

An Omega serial number or movement

number, as it is sometimes called, is a

unique seven or eight-digit number

which is etched into the watch at time

of production, most times into the

movement, as is the case with this one.

Numbers that span from 11,000,000

to 11,999,999 = 1947 onwards and

this elegant watch falls into this date

range.

The crown on this watch does not

have the Omega symbol.

Omega started to sign all the crowns

and crystals around 1950.

Some say it’s from 1945 onwards, and

 others say it’s sometime between

1947 and 1950 and so it is very

possible this is the original crown

as it dates from about 1947 but

can’t say for sure.

Later Fixoflex band stamped

Made in Germany

EDELSTAHL

 and multiple Patent numbers.

It is very unisex style and looks

great as a ladies watch as well

as being a smaller sized

 gents watch.

CONDITION

It is ticking away nicely but

is running fast so needs a

service.

It has been serviced at least

five or six times in its life as

per the watchmakers scratch

marks inside the back case.

Cannot tell you if everything is

original as it has been to the

watchmakers so many times

but the dial looks to be touched

up in our opinion but we are

 not watch experts.

As stated above the crowns

didn’t have symbols until after

1950 or slightly before so

this one could be original.

The domed glass or crystal looks

original as it is reasonably scratched

and looks old to me but once again

can’t say for sure.

The dial has marks around the

perimeter as you can clearly

see in the photos.

Later German Fixoflex band is

still in very good condition and

still nice and stretchy.

DIMENSIONS

The case measures approximately:

25mm square

excluding crown.

It weighs: 44.5 grams
