• Bottle embossed:  "TRIAL  MARK / WATKINS".

• Condition:   Bottle is in good solid condition.  NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.  The label is in very good condition for being 135 years old.  The edges of the label have some wear with a few small marks in the label itself but otherwise the label is  about 95% FULL and 100% LEGIBLE.  See photos for idea of bottle and label's overall condition and appearance.

• Age:  An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. late 1800s.

• Shipping: FREE domestic shipping.   We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate.  If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates.  We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. A nice LARGE example of an OLD Watkins bottle.  Note that the ingredients listed on the paper label:  ALCOHOL AND  OPIUM!  There are several variants of these old Watkins bottle, but the TURQUOISE AQUA MARINE color in this one shows that it is one of the earliest because this is the ORIGINAL COLOR of blown glass bottles.  What also marks this bottle as an early  example is that the label says that the liniment was "MADE ONLY BY ... THE J. R. WATKINS MEDICAL CO."  Only the earliest of the Watkins bottles list the company as the Watkins MEDICAL Company.   And LAST but not LEAST and REPITITION for EMPHASIS is what the paper label says about the Liniment:   ALCOHOL and OPIUM!   That is what's  great about collecting these old Watkins bottle is that old Mr. J. R. Watkins, Mr. household name, Mr. maker of good flavoring extracts, food coloring for cupcakes and candy, was also producing OPIUM HEROIN MORPHINE laced quack medicine products.  Opiated liniments, cough syrup laced with heroin and general medicines spiked with morphine.  Not to be too hard on old J. R., I am sure that he used these narcotic patent medicines in good faith and believed that the ingredients would benefit the consumers who took it.  It is just fun to  think that such a wholesome maker of innocent household products of old, also had a line of medicines that were laced with hard-core narcotics such as Opium, Heroin, and Morphine.  Enough said -- check it out!
