This is a 'Buy it Now' for an Second Anglo-Boer War Queen's South Africa Medal with five clasps (3rd type Reverse), awarded to a Sergeant serving with the 12th (Royal) Lancers.
1899 QSA with Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal and SA 1901 & 1902 clasps.
The medal has the correct officially impressed naming as follows to:
4924 SERJT: A. FOSTER. 12TH LANCERS.
Medal and clasps confirmed on two QSA medal rolls for 12th Lancers.
While in South Africa, during the first seven months of 1901 the 10th Hussars and 12th Lancers
were with Colonel E C Knox in the Eastern Transvaal, taking part in
General French's sweep to the Swazi border and the Vryheid district.
They then operated in the north-east of the Orange River Colony;
thereafter both regiments went to Cape Colony to do another eight
months' chasing and skirmishing. Down to the close of the campaign the
regiment frequently had sharp fighting, often involving casualties.
Otherwise Sergeant
Foster is totally unresearched, so a nice little project for the regimental collector.
The medal is in about EF condition and comes with the correct ribbon attached and will be sent in a plastic medal wallet.
Documents supplied include two copies of the QSA rolls confirming his award and clasps, which we can email to the buyer.
