Pizarro is one of Peru's greatest legends. Pizarro is the Peruvian player with the most success in Europe. He is the 2nd highest foreign scorer and sixth all-time historic scorer in the Bundesliga (197 goals).

Pizarro is also the oldest scorer in Bundesliga history, scoring at age 40.
