In order to help restore the population of the sandhill crane to healthy numbers, while raising chicks in captivity with a fear of humans, Dr. Rob Horwich employed new methods in animal husbandry. Human foster parents took on the role of adult cranes using costumes to appear as birds rather than as humans. This documentary captures Horwich's experiment in raising crane chicks to maturity.
