An extremely rare 1916 album of drawings in a German notebook by a French artist, soldier, or prisoner to be identified. This album contains 23 drawings and a text about the artists written in French, as well as annotations. The collection includes 13 "vanitas" studies of skulls, 4 portraits of men, 1 portrait of a woman, 1 study of a teapot, 2 studies of dogs, 1 soldier playing the banjo, and 1 abstract face study. All were produced between May 1916 and June 2nd. It is worth noting the power of these drawings, which speak volumes about this soldier-artist.
