This screw on-mount lens hood shades the lens from stray light, prevent or limit lens flare, improving your contrast and image quality. You can use two different sizes of UV filters, but they must be screw-on type filters. Magnetic type filters cannot be used. 

A 62mm UV filter can be mounted on the adapter ring,the installation sequence is as follows: Lens+Adapter ring + UV filter + Lens hood + Lens cap.
A 72mm UV filter on your lens directly. The installation sequence in that case is: Lens+UV filter + Adapter ring + Lens hood + Lens cap.
