Used menu from the Shady Lane Farm restaurant in Marengo Illinois, (Where saints and sinners meet) is the catch phrase. Also includes the “Shady Lane farm Barnyard News” newsletter laid in. It is dated summer 1963. Shady Lane Farm and Theater was west of downtown Marengo on Route 20. It was built in 1914 by the Alexander Glass family. In 1936 Broadway actor Frank Bryan and his wife Doris bought the farm and converted the house into a restaurant. In 1938, four New Yorkers with theater backgrounds turned the dairy barn into an amateur playhouse. The place went professional in 1941. Ray Curnow purchased the operation from the Bryan’s in 1960. 9 ¼” x 12 ¼” and 4 pages. The newsletter is just a bit smaller and also 4 pages. Some creasing on the cover, pen markings on some pages.
