In 2023, the Bank of
England introduced the new £50 polymer banknote featuring King Charles III.
This marked the first time the monarch appeared on British currency, following
the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The note retained advanced security features like
holograms, see-through windows, and raised print, ensuring it remained
difficult to counterfeit. The new Series G £50 note was brought into
circulation in June 2021; it is the last of the Bank of England's notes to
switch from paper to polymer. The transition to polymer began years earlier to
enhance durability and longevity compared to paper notes. With vibrant colors
and a sleek design, the 2023 £50 note signified a significant shift in the
United Kingdom’s currency, reflecting the new reign and continued innovation in
banknote technology. The front of the note has an red brown on multicolor
underprint with the portrait of King Charles III on the right and a hologram of
the kings portrait on the left as well. On the reverse of the note, you have the
portrait of the computer scientist and World
War II codebreaker Alan Turing. It is classified as a Banknote and has a Grade
of 65 EPQ Gem Uncirculated. The banknote has been certified by PMG and is a
great find for anyone looking to add a unique piece of world currency to their
collection. As a high-grade example, this note offers collectors a
rare opportunity to own a piece of this important history.
