1944, the "Dai Nippon Teikoku Seihu" notes (The Japanese Imperial
Government) were denominated in Roepiah and printed entirely in Java. This
1944 Netherlands Indies/Japanese Occupation WWII banknote is a notable
numismatic item that holds historical significance. The front of the note has a
dark brown on a light tan underprint with the plate letter S prefix and Javanese
dancer at left. The Japanese lettering in the bottom middle means Imperial
Government of Japan and the Ten Roepiah. On the reverse the note has a purple
tone, and you have the Stupas and statues of Buddha from Borobudur Temple. In
1942, the Japanese successfully invaded the Indies. The note was printed by Imperial
Printing Bureau of Japan, Japan. It is classified as a
Banknote and has a Grade of 63 Choice Uncirculated. The banknote has been
certified by PMG and is a great find for anyone looking to add a unique piece
of world currency to their collection.
