Tester Memory Slot Tester Desktop Board For DDR2 DDR3 Memory Slot with LED
This DDR2 DDR3 with LED tester is a upgraded version of the first generation tester, which does not require an external power supply and supports all DDR2 and DDR3 interfaces of IN-TEL and AMD motherboards. It uses light-emitting diodes to indicate open and short circuits of data and address lines, and is used to repair motherboards that do not turn on, display, or read memory. It is a tool for repairing computer motherboards.
Instruction:
1. Install a 3.3V (CR2032) battery (battery not included)on the tester and test each memory slot of the corresponding DDR2 and DDR3 motherboard separately. The motherboard does not need to be powered on. Press the button switch on the tester. If the test lights are all on and the brightness is consistent, it indicates that the signal line is normal. If any lights are not on or are on excessively, it indicates that the signal has an open or short circuit fault. (Note: When testing Intel motherboards, do not plug in the CPU and various connection cards to measure. When testing AMD motherboards (such as 940 motherboard, AM2 motherboard, 1207 motherboard, 1366 motherboard), plug in the CPU for the test light to turn on.).
2 . When testing DDR2 motherboards, if there is no pull-up resistor on the address line and all indicator lights are on, it indicates normal operation. If there is pull-up resistor and the lights on the address line are on, it only indicates that there is no open circuit in the resistor. A pointer meter should be used to further determine whether there is an open circuit in the BGA address line. (How to determine whether there is an pull-up resistor? Pull-up resistors are usually designed next to the memory slot. There are usually several resistors, with one end connected to the address line and the other end connected to the power supply.)
3. Method for judging the address line of the pointer meter: Pull the pointer meter to the X1 position, which is one ohm. Connect the black probe to the motherboard ground and use the red probe to measure the measurement holes of the DDR2 address line. If the resistance of the address line is consistent, it indicates that the BGA address line has no empty solder. If the swing is large, it indicates that the BGA has empty solder or the PCB has a broken wire fault
Note:
1. This test light is a DDR2 and DDR3 2-in-1 test light, and all data bus and address line lights have DDR2 and DDR3 shared lights. The clock signals CK2 and/CK2 are DDR2 signals. When testing DDR3, both signals do not light up. When testing DDR2 motherboards, RESET, BA2, and A14 may not light up due to different motherboard designs. The same motherboard can be used to compare and determine the fault.
2. When measuring AMD motherboards, the motherboard needs to be plugged in with the CPU for the test light to turn on.
3. When testing DDR3 motherboards, as long as all the lights are on, it means it is normal, and do not measure the resistance of the address lines again.
