The T3 train set was introduced in 1979 as an addition to the T2 train set. This 0-series test car, known by the nickname "Dumpling Nose," is characterized by its small side windows, as it was ordered at the same time as the 27th series 0 train set (1000-series).
It was in service for about 26 years until the T5 train set, based on the 700-series, was introduced in 2005. The leading car, car 7 (922-26), is preserved at the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park in Nagoya.
