Veloy Vigil was an American Artist (1931- 1997). Born in Denver, Colorado, he was raised on farms around Greeley, Colorado. On his mother's side, he was descended from Pueblo Indians and on his father's side from the Spanish. He is celebrated for his strong use of colorful abstract shape which often refer to bits of the culture of New Mexico. Working primarily in acrylics, Vigil seeked to show motion as well as emotion in his paintings.
