Without exaggeration, the pearl and life-giving spiritual source of Ukraine is the National Historical and Cultural Reserve "Hetman's Capital". The reserve is a cultural, educational and scientific research institution, created by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 445 of June 14, 1993 "On the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Hetman's Capital" on the basis of a complex of monuments of cultural heritage and nature,related to the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks of the Hetmanship era, with the aim of carrying out their comprehensive scientific research and protection. 

   The status of a national institution was granted by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 1102 of November 16, 2007 "On granting the status of national to the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Hetman's Capital". The reserve is a state property and is under the management of the Ministry of Culture.
