Gaudi's greatest masterpiece was his life.
Antoni Gaudi left behind numerous original works that are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882 and is still being built today, Park Güell, Casa Mila, and Casa Batlló.
Gaudi's architecture, often described with words like dynamic curves, overflowing colors, boldness and groundbreaking, is known as a unique existence that does not belong completely to any other style, and continues to fascinate people all over the world.
Meanwhile, Inoue Takehiko has not only drawn popular national manga such as "SLAM DUNK," which sparked a basketball boom in Japan and has sold over 100 million copies in Japan, but also "Vagabond" and "Real." In recent years, he has been active beyond the scope of a manga artist, holding solo exhibitions such as "Inoue Takehiko's Final Manga Exhibition" and painting a folding screen of Shinran at Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto.
"Special Exhibition Gaudi x Inoue Takehiko" is supervised by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and introduces the great achievements of the master Gaudi through about 100 valuable materials such as Gaudi's own sketches and drawings, large architectural models, and furniture designed by Gaudi, which will be exhibited by various related institutions in Barcelona such as the Gaudi Memorial Lecture and Sagrada Familia. Inoue Takehiko will use his unique sensibility and sharp expressiveness to depict Gaudi's character and story.
This time, Inoue Takehiko will draw about 40 pieces, including large-scale works, especially for this exhibition.
This catalogue was specially compiled on the occasion of this special exhibition. A collaboration that transcends time and space between two artists who represent Japan and Spain in different genres: architect Gaudi and manga artist Inoue Takehiko.
