These hardcover books measures 6 1/4" X 9" - 563 & 682 pages respectively, with a total of 130 B&W illustrations, plus 14 specially prepared maps. *All the maps are present & in fairly Good condition, although a few have some tape.*

The book has red boards, with black inlay on the fronts, and gold on heavily toned spines, with the books having paste-on fronts. Volume I has a 1 1/2" X 2" piece missing from the spine, with the cloth being worn at the base of the spine, and two small split along the edges. The rear trench and the trench before the introduction are split, thus the hinges are weak. Volume II has more splitting along the spine, with wear to the top and base of the spine. Both books have firm spines and tight pages.
