A lot of two (2) 2 5/8 inch and 2 inch tall rectangular-shaped cardboard and tin antique CR. TARTAR and SAFFRON containers. Each tin has a COLORFUL picture on it. There are not commonly seen tins as they are both abnormally small tins and the Saffron tin is just a rare tin to find. The taller tin has a picture of an Owl perched on a crescent moon and the shorter one has a picture of saffron stems. These are ORIGINAL ANTIQUE tins put out by the GILLETT and SHERER-GILLETT Co of CHICAGO, ILL., and date back to early 1900.
- Tins read: 1) "GILLETT'S PURE GROUND CR. TARTAR and 2) GILLETT IMPORTED SAFFRON".
- Condition: As a whole, these tins are in good solid condition. They all show aging and wear, some fading and staining, tearing and corroding, label loss and discoloring but asides from these typical issues, issues that you'd expect to find on tins that has survived a century of time, they are in good overall condition. PLEASE see pictures to get the best idea of overall appearance and condition.
- Age: These are ORIGINAL ANTIQUE tin and cardboard lithographic tins, ca. early 1900's.
- Shipping: FREE domestic shipping. We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
These nicely COLORED little spice containers have great designs on them, one a picture of a little owl on the other saffron stems. These were the TRADE MARK of the Gillett spice company out of Chicago, Illinois. They both date back a good 100 years old, possibly much older, making them quite collectible today. These three are scarce little ones, check them out!
