The curious conical out-door ovens used in the Southwest by the Pueblo Indians and many of the Mexicans were prob- ably borrowed from the Spaniards. They are built of brush plastered over inside and out with thick coatings of adobe mud. With repairs being constantly made on them they last indefinitely. They are sometimes built on the roofs of the Pueblo houses, but most generally on the ground near the dwelling. T.
