Ink color

The color of the ink is PURPLE.

Compatibility

This remanufactured cartridge is used in place of the black ink cartridge in HP printers that use number 302 cartridges. The printing is purple. Over a few hours (or days if covered by other papers) it fades to become colorless. Prints approximately 210 pages.

Installation, Setup and Printing

To prevent clogging of the cartridge nozzles please print a page soon after you receive the cartridge and about once per week after that. If you remove the cartridge from the printer, store in a clip.

1. We recommend not installing any HP Firmware Updates.

2. Disable or turn off HP Cartridge Protection

3. Remove the cartridge from the plastic clip, remove the blue tape, wipe the ink from the print head with a paper towel, and insert the cartridge into the printer in the slot for the black cartridge.  If you have removed a regular ink cartridge from the printer you can store it in the plastic clip.

4. To print with Paper Saver ink you will want to print using only that cartridge. The easiest method is to remove the tricolor cartridge and leave only the Paper Saver cartridge installed. If you get a message asking if you want to print in single cartridge mode, click OK.

You may also be able to print using only Paper Saver ink by setting the printer properties to “Black Ink Only” for some printers and “Grayscale” for others. Do not select the “High Quality Grayscale” option because that will cause the printer to use some ink from the tricolor cartridge.

Low Ink and Empty Ink Warnings

These are re-manufactured cartridges with a new chip installed to show the estimated ink levels.  However, it is normal for these chips to show the remaining ink to drop quickly and then remain for a long time at the lowest level.  Eventually there will be a warning that the ink cartridge is empty such as the one below.  You may be able to follow the instructions provided with you printer to over-ride this warning and to continue printing.

Recycling the cartridge

When all the ink in the cartridge has been used, dispose of it in accordance with local regulations, which in most cases means disposing of it properly as electronic waste.

How it works

The ink works in ordinary inkjet printers, using ordinary paper.  The printing process itself is unchanged, but after the use the paper is not discarded or recycled.  Instead the paper is set aside and the printing erases itself.  Carbon dioxide in the air is absorbed by the ink and  chemical reactions take place that make the ink colorless. When this self-erasing is complete, the paper is indistinguishable from new paper and can be used again exactly the same way new paper can be used.  When the paper eventually becomes wrinkled after many uses it can be recycled as normal.
