Se sei un appassionato di retroComputer conosci sicuramente l'Altair 8800 uno dei primi computer immessi sul mercato, nel 1975, ecco questa è la replica hardware del computer che ha reso famoso Bill Gates e ha lanciato la Microsoft.

Le dimensioni del pannello frontale sono 38x15cm simili all'originale, mentre lo spessore è di soli 4cm grazie al Design ULTRASLIM, in questo modo avrai un Altair 8800 senza occupare inutile spazio sulla scrivania, geniale! 
Inoltre la sua configurazione aperta ti permette di ammirare l'elettronica al suo interno ed accedere facilmente alle tue personalizzazioni.

E' famoso anche perchè Bill Gates insieme al suo socio Paul Allen svilupparono il loro BASIC (di soli 4kB) proprio per questa macchina. Con l'emulatore vengono incluse molte versioni BASIC inclusa quella da 4kB di Microsoft.
Puoi giocarci ai primi adventure come ZORK e COLOSSAL CAVE ADVENTURE e usare i primi programmi come Wordstar e SuperCalc i progenitori di Word ed Excel.

Quella proposta qui è una replica basata su microcontrollore ArduinoDue sviluppata da David Hansel (https://github.com/dhansel/Altair8800) perfettamente compatibile con la versione originale e con la stessa potenza di calcolo.
Su questo emulatore girano tutti i Sistemi Operativi e le applicazioni sviluppate per il computer originale.
Il pannello frontale è una replica esatta della versione originale con ben 36 LED e 25 interruttore a levette perfettamente funzionati, puoi programmare l'Altair immettendo i programmi direttamente in memoria mediante l'ultilizzo delle levette, una esperienza mistica !!

L'emulatore è dotato inoltre di ben 4 moadalità di collegamento Terminale:
1- intterfaccia USB, in modo da usare un Terminale seriale su un qualunque PC moderno (es. Putty, TeraTerm, ecc.) - vedi foto
2- interfaccia seriale RS232, puoi usare un qualunque terminale in emulazione VT100 collegato trmite un cavo seriale - nelle foto puoi vedere un terminale RS232 basato su un terminale VideoTel/Minitel (non incluso)
3- Interfaccia WiFi, per collegarti all'8800 senza l'utilizzo di cavi. In altre parole puoi mettere l'8800 in rete via WiFi e ti collegarti a lui tramite in wireless utilizzando un qualunque umulatore Terminale (es PuTTY, TeraTerm, ecc.). La procedura è molto semplice e ben descritta nelle istruzuioni incluse. (per passare dal terminale WiFi e RS232 è sufficiente agire sul selettore a bordo (vedi foto).
4- Terminale interno VGA, (basato su piattaforma VersaTerm) che ti permette di collegarti all'Altair senza l'utlizzo di PC o terminale esterni è sufficiente un Monitor VGA e una tastiera USB, il terminale interno è direttamente connesso all'Altair, il metodo più semplice e immediato di usare subito questo fantastico emulatore.

IMPORTANTE si può passare da una modalità Terminale all'altra con semplicissime operazioni, è anche possibile salvare la modalità preferita e trovarla pronta alla successiva accensione dell'emulatore.

E' inoltre dotato di:
- un BUS I/O che può essere usato per espandere l'8800 collegandolo a dispositivi esterni come lettori floppy, lettori Paper, stampanti, interfacce seriali e Parallele, ecc. - Guarda le mie offerte sono già disponibili il BUS di espansione e molte schede per espandere il tuo Altair. Il BUS è compatibile con tutte le schede sviluppate dal creatore di questa meraviglia (David Hansel).
- Alloggiamento microSD da usare come memoria di massa, l'emulatore è in grado di emulare Floppy e HD
- BUS proprietario per future espansioni

Verrà fornito:
- Emulatore Altair8800 montato completo e funzionante come lo vedete in foto, incluso il controllore ArduinoDue con già il Firmware installato.
- MicroSD con tantissime immagini di floppy e HD installato (vedi foto).

If you are a retro computer enthusiast, you surely know the Altair 8800, one of the first computers put on the market in 1975. This is the hardware replica of the computer that made Bill Gates famous and launched Microsoft.

The front panel dimensions are 38x15cm similar to the original, while the thickness is only 4cm thanks to the ULTRASLIM Design, this way you will have an Altair 8800 without taking up unnecessary space on your desk, brilliant! Furthermore, its open configuration allows you to admire the electronics inside and easily access your customizations.

It is also famous because Bill Gates together with his partner Paul Allen developed their BASIC (only 4kB) specifically for this machine. Many BASIC versions are included with the emulator including Microsoft's 4kB version.
You can play early adventure games like ZORK and COLOSSAL CAVE ADVENTURE and use early programs like Wordstar and SuperCalc, the ancestors of Word and Excel.

The one proposed here is a replica based on an ArduinoDue microcontroller developed by David Hansel (https://github.com/dhansel/Altair8800) perfectly compatible with the original version and with the same computing power.

The front panel is an exact replica of the original version with 36 LEDs and 25 perfectly functioning toggle switches, you can program the Altair by entering the programs directly into memory using the toggles, a mystical experience!!

The emulator is also equipped with 4 Terminal connection modes:
1- USB interface, so you can use a serial Terminal on any modern PC (e.g. Putty, TeraTerm, etc.) - see photo
2- RS232 serial interface, you can use any terminal in VT100 emulation connected via a serial cable - in the photos you can see an RS232 terminal based on a VideoTel/Minitel terminal (not included)
3- WiFi interface, to connect to the 8800 without using cables. In other words, you can put the 8800 on the network via WiFi and connect to it wirelessly using any Terminal humulator (e.g. PuTTY, TeraTerm, etc.). The procedure is very simple and well described in the included instructions. (to switch between WiFi and RS232 terminals, simply use the on-board selector (see photo).
4- Internal VGA terminal, (based on the VersaTerm platform) that allows you to connect to the Altair without using an external PC or terminal. All you need is a VGA monitor and a USB keyboard. The internal terminal is directly connected to the Altair, the simplest and most immediate way to use this fantastic emulator right away.

IMPORTANT: you can switch from one Terminal mode to another with very simple operations. You can also save your favorite mode and find it ready the next time you turn on the emulator.

It is also equipped with:
- an I/O BUS that can be used to expand the 8800 by connecting it to external devices such as floppy drives, Paper drives, printers, serial and Parallel interfaces, etc. - Look at my offers, the expansion BUS and many cards to expand your Altair are already available.
