Steam locomotives in Switzerland
Steam locomotives in mountain service on steep adhesion and cogwheel rams, as helpers in snow and avalanche clearance  these are operations that are one of the most interesting things about steam operation to experience.
The coarse Swiss Alps and the often boldly laid out routes form a special backdrop for such shots. They are photographic readings that we encounter again and again in this book.
In addition, there are pictures of the last regularly steam-powered lines of SBB and private railways, of operations in the duty roster of electric locomotives and in shunting service, on dreamy lines and on factory railways. A special chapter is the steam operation at the national borders and of Swiss locomotives abroad.
In order to capture all these events of the last phase of steam operation in the railway country of Switzerland, which covers a period of almost 30 years, in impressive operational pictures, the author and the other well-known photographers represented here spared no effort.
The specific development of the Swiss railway system and also the early onset of electrification

It should amaze many viewers of the pictures what was there, and above all how long and also where, over the rails.
The introductory and accompanying texts to the pictures vividly and vividly convey a piece of interesting company history.
