I acquired this bowl from a 90-year-old lady who told me it had belonged to her grandmother. That is all the provenance I have. It certainly is an old dish. It appears to be iron covered in porcelain or enamel. There is a place on the crease where the bowl meets the pedestal where the outer layer has chipped away, and there is a black metal underneath. There is another spot like this on the under side rim of the bowl where it comes into contact with the surface upon which it sits. There is also a tiny pit on the inside of the bowl where the under iron shows through.
The bowl glaze has crazing throughout.
The ball is 12 inches in diameter and approximately 6 1/2 inches tall
