DESCRIPTION:
Series Details: The Singer Teacher's Textbook of Machine Sewing reference
volumes are prized by collectors and those who appreciate vintage Singer sewing
machines, tools, and techniques. During my years of collecting, I know of only
12 Teacher's editions dating from 1923 to 1960. I believe the numerous
copyrights listed in the Machine Sewing Textbook volumes published prior to
1955 represent the copyrights of information reprinted from manuals for the
machines and attachments featured in the volumes. All but the final 1960
edition are hardcover and bound in linen (green, royal blue, or rust red,
depending upon the year).
1960 Volume Details: This 1960 edition represents a major change
in the contents and publishing format. Compared to earlier volumes, it is larger,
paperback, and incorporates two color printing and illustrations in grayscale
with shades of pink rather than black and white printing and photographs. By
this year, Singer was actively marketing the newer slant needle models. The
instructions include the maintenance and use of these machines, sewing
techniques and slant shank attachments. While Singer omitted instructions from
this volume for the earlier low shank models and most of the attachments made
for them, they did include parts lists for earlier models. The 1960 edition is
an important instruction manual for this decade of Singer innovation. If you
are interested in earlier Singer models and attachments, I highly recommend the
1955 and 1957 Machine Sewing Teacher’s Textbook editions.
Provided by Singer to teachers of home economics, these volumes
are rare.
The Singer Sewing Skills Reference Book focuses on low shank
Singer sewing machine models and attachments. It would be a great complement to
this 1960 Singer Teacher’s Textbook of Machine Sewing which prominently features
slant needle machines. The graphic styles used are very similar.

CONDITION:
See the photographs. 64 years old, this 1960 edition is attractive
and in good, vintage condition. It is paper bound. There were no hardcover
editions published. There is some mild darkening to the covers and spine. This
may be removable. I will leave any treatment to you. The front fore edge
corners are bumped. This creasing continues through some of the first pages. The
title page is acid burned because a garment pattern was stored inside the front
cover for decades. This browning continues to page 3. There is no highlighting,
handwriting, or other intentional marks on the cover or interior pages. Apart
from minor aging, the pages are clean and bright. The binding is tight and
there are no missing pages. Overall, this book is in very good condition
compared to other editions I have found.

Any photocopies of various papers included with a listing (e.g. instructions, ads, articles, etc.) have been produced from scans of the original documents in my collection and compiled over many years. This information is provided with your purchase and is not available separately.
Should you want to purchase more than one Buy-It-Now
auction I will happily combine shipping whenever possible. PLEASE contact me
BEFORE you pay so I may adjust the shipping charges.
I will pack your purchase and ship within 1-2
business days after your payment clears. Once shipped, delivery dates are
beyond my control. The USPS and all other commercial mail and package services
have been slow of late. Shortly after I print your shipping label, eBay should
provide you with a tracking number. All items are shipped with package tracking
to verify delivery.
If you receive a "Delivered"
notification from eBay but your package was not delivered, please contact your
local post office immediately and provide them with your tracking number. In
January 2024 I purchased an item from an eBay seller. I received a
"Delivered by USPS" notification and package tracking stated,
"Delivered In/At Mailbox". The package was absent. I called my local
post office and reported this. Through GPS tracking of my mail carrier's route,
the Post Master was able to locate and retrieve my package. It was delivered to
me three days later.
Please message me should you have any problems and I will work
with you to resolve the issue.
I hope you enjoy a blessed day :o)
