American models manufactured several different runs of their Peabody 2-Bay Open Top Hopper cars. According to NASG, they did a 1997 and 1985 run. The model number of this car is #308 which NASG states predates their 1985 run. Altogether, American Models made 4 or 5 different road numbers. It is believed that this particular model had the Ore Load added to it by the owner as I haven’t been able to locate anyone else with this particular load mounted on top of the car. As you may be able to tell in the photos, the load sits on top of the car because it is too long and too wide to sit inside the car. This indicates to me that the load wasn’t designed for this car. You may wish to trim the load and glue it inside the car for a more realistic look. As is, the car is in good shape. Load doesn’t fit properly but appears to be glued on. Box is missing the original Styrofoam carton. I have inserted a replacement makeshift Styrofoam carton. Priced to include the Ore load.
