The monograph is the first fundamental publication dedicated to the fortification heritage of the historic capital of Podillia - Kamianets-Podilskyi, whose cultural landscape is nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Based on the materials of field studies and the corpus of archival sources XV-XIXct. a new concept of the evolution of the fortress city in the context of the development of European fortification and in a wide chronological range from late antiquity to early modern times (II-XVIII centuries) is presented. Considerable attention is paid to the problems of research and restoration of monuments of the city's defense construction.
The work is accompanied by 470 illustrations, including 43 author's reconstructions.
