IKONETTE 35mm rapid camera is one of Zeiss Ikon's greatest blunder. In 1958 Zeiss Ikon decided to rationalize and update their amateur camera line and in that attempt introduced a novel plastic cast, kidney shaped, ultra-modern 35mm camera with a rapid action lever for film advance and shooting - the IKONETTE ! However, production of IKONETTE was very problematic mostly due to materials available at the time and molding process. Although very user friendly, ergonomic and chic looking, most IKONETTE cameras had reliability issues and light leaks. After a production period which lasted less than two years Zeiss Ikon called back most of the cameras and destroyed them. Thus now the IKONETTE, despite being an amateur market bare-bones camera, is VERY RARE and much sought after vintage Zeiss camera.
The IKONETTE I am listing here is from my personal collection. Cosmetically it is EXCELLENT ++ (85-90%) condition. No scratches, cracks or staining. The shutter is top notch condition all speeds work fine. The aperture blades are clean, the lens has no scratches, no fungus or any major dust. However, the film advance mechanism is faulty, the lever is very hard to operate and does not wind the film. Therefore, I am listing it here for display or for repair if you are up to it. Thanks for reading and checking out. Cheers,
