A typical star vehicle for the charming and agile Kitty Ting Hao (Ding Hao), Beauty Parade tells the story of country girl Sue being sent to the city to study in a westernized middle school. At first a target of bullying by other students, Sue later gains respectability and popularity by her outstanding performance in an inter-school basketball match. Written by Wang Liuzhao and directed by Tang Huang, both excelling in the genre of urban comedy, the film is a delight as sweet as its star. It also earned Ting the nickname of "the Little Darling".
