1920s Spode's Billingsley Rose Yellow Plates- Set of 4
For your consideration or perhaps collection, are these incredibly RARE "Spode's Jewel Copeland" Yellow Billingsley Rose Salad, Dessert, or side plate. These are 7 3/4" plates by Spode of England. The yellow rose is what distinguishes the rarity of these particular plates. These plates were made in England, and each contain their maker's mark, US Patent date of June 15th, 1926, Registration Number 70392, along with inscribed numbers and letters on the bottom of each plate. These plates are stunning and feature a very delicately embossed lace-like design that is intricately formed in unique ring layers surrounding the circumference of each plate. The hand painted yellow roses and simply accented green stems and leaves are perfectly placed in the center of the plate. These will make the perfect presentation for a special occasion or everyday use!
These plates are stunning. They are in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing. As they are very old, the only notable imperfection might be slight variation to the colors of the roses, but truly, this is not even worth mentioning, just stating this as more of a general fact about antiques.
There are 1 or 2 small stack marks, they have been photographed and are very hard to see unless you look very close; that after testing a spot came right off, but due to the nature of antique items I didn't want to use the wrong cleaner and harm the finish. I will leave this process up to the buyer.
1 plate out of the 4 is 1/16" larger
