1927 Abandoned the idea of becoming a doctor and devoted himself to the study of traditional academic painting
1930 Moves to Paris
1944 Participates in the founding of the Denise René Gallery in Paris
1964 Time magazine coined the term “Op Art” to describe a type of art that is both abstract and Pop Art, and introduced artists such as Victor Vasarely.
1965 Participates in “Responsive Eye,” an exhibition of Op Art works at the Museum of Modern Art in New York
1976 Opening of the Fondation Vasarely Museum in Aix-en-Provence, France, in the presence of French President Georges Pompidou.
1997 Died of prostate cancer
