A 9 1/2 inch tall cylinder-shaped pristine TURQUOISE / AQUA MARINE colored antique HIRES ROOT BEER bottle. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a hand-tooled BLOB TOP, the VERY FIRST and EARLIEST STYLE OF BOTTLE that Charles Hires used to put up his root beer in, dating back to the 1800's.

• Bottle embossed on base:  "HIRES / ROOT BEER / PHILADELPHIA, PA."

• Condition:  Bottle is PRISTINE SPARKLING CLEAN condition, with maybe a trace of age wear or spot of patina.  Bottle has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.  PLEASE see picture for overall idea of bottle's condition.
  

• Age:  An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown-Into-Mold bottle (BIM) with a hand-finished BLOB-top, ca. late 1800's.

A beautiful example here, AND one of the very few original HIRES ROOT BEER bottles in existence that is entirely complete, with the closure still sealing the bottle!  It has many small bubbles and small imperfections in the hand blown glass.  This is the earliest style of bottle used by Charles E. Hires, to bottle his root beer in, and it still has the original rubber plug that snugly fits into the blob top.  Even rarer is the original wire 'lightning stopper', the wire clamp that holds the plug into the top to seal it.  NOTE THAT THE last pictures shows an example WITHOUT the wire closure -- this picture is just to show what the top looks like, a collared blob top, the collar being the ring of glass just below the blob top.  The wire for the stopper fit into this groove.  The color of this bottle is eye catching, a pristine TURQUOISE / AQUA MARINE color and in this sparkling clean condition, the color makes it very pleasing to look at.  Many of the old soda bottles that you see from the 1800's now look like they were used as bowling pins they are so beat up and thrashed.   But this one, well, this one is in amazing condition.   It is the ultimate antique Hires Root Beer bottle, the VERY FIRST and EARLIEST STYLE OF BOTTLE that Charles Hires used to put up his root beer in, check it out!
