Under the Qianlong Emperor.( 1736-1795 AD) thee wearing of these Trousse became mandatory for all Manchus and Mongolians.
The idea was to insert the traditional outdoor style of meat eating. Depending on the wealth and social station these eating sets can range from ornate to plain.                                                                                                                                                                           The set we offer is beautifully crafted with a jade hilt and hardwood scabbard decorated with bas relief brass and silver fittings. The relief  brass at both the top a bottom of the scabbard shows opposing Dragons in pursuit of the Pearl of Wisdom and ornate floral background. There is a silver band mid scabbard and a silver foot on the scabbard. The jade hit has a silver collar at the blade.
The blade is well crafted, with fullers on both sides and a some what spear point. It has not been cleaned and shows some small areas of rust.
