Description
Ralph Ginzburg, typed letter signed "Ralph" on Avant Garde magazine
stationery, July 4, 1968, 1 page, 7 ¼ by 13 inches, in very good condition (has
folds from mailing). The letter is
written to Eric Matlen, Publisher of Sawyer Press, who is informed that
Ginzburg has authorized his accountant to issue payment for permission to use several
Rob Cobb editorial cartoons that will be included in a feature article in an
upcoming issue of Avant Garde. He mentions that he will return the camera
ready veloxes when the feature comes back from the printer but that will be in
two months. Finally, he asks that the
copyright line be dropped from each cartoon and it would help visually if only
a single blanket line for all the cartoons be used or better yet none at all. Throughout the letter Ginzburg has made several changes by crossing out words in pencil. (Avant
Garde published the feature article "Ron Cobb: Daumier of the New Left" in the
November 1968 issue (Number 5).) This
letter comes from the files of Sawyer Press.
Letters signed by Ginzberg seldom come on the market.
