Two Antique Copper Ladles & a Vintage 1950s Copper & Brass Scoop

c.1900 – 1950s

Decorative and Attractive Hand Made and Beaten Copper Ladles from the early 20th century if not before.

Possibly French origin, though I tend to think that they were made here in Australia.

Rustic and unadorned simple and practical, they were made to be used, not shown, and that is their attraction.

Two tools, a saw and a hammer and a patient country homestead cook created these utensils.

In both ladles the bowl is attached to the handle by a hammered copper plug, not soldered or brazed, so there is slight movement between the two.

These have passed the test of time and the ladles are good for many years use to come.

They are shallow and suited for scooping solid foods from a cauldron, can also be used for making jam, marmalade, etc.

You could polish the copper to a high shine but as I'm a fan of original patina I will leave that decision to others.
