Ray-Ban Aviator Bausch Lomb 58mm General Tortuga B-15 Shooter Sunglasses
This is a pair of “The General” collection by Bausch and Lomb for Ray-Ban in the mid to late 1980’s- early 1990’s. It has a beautiful reddish-brown sweat bar, and a tortoise shell “Tortuga” wrap around the lenses’ frames and temple tips (ends of the arm pieces). This pair has a considerable amount of the Tortuga frame wrap missing. These were likely exposed to unfavorable conditions and the wrap chipped away because of temperature, humidity, etc. that would also explain the white oxidation marks on the nose pieces and temple tips.
Also shown above in the pictures, it appears as though someone had replaced one of the sunglasses’ frame’s screws at one point. The frame screw (the inner screw, not the one that holds the arms to the frames) for the left lens (or right lens if you’re wearing them) is bigger, and the hole seems bigger too. This would increase the difficulty of trying to replace it with a matching flathead screw, because the hole is bigger.
There is no “Ray-Ban” insignia on the top left of the left lens like there typically is. This could be due to the effects of aging, or they could have also been sold that way. Some of the old Bausch and Lomb Ray-Ban—such as the Double Gradient Mirror (DGM) Kalichrome Powderhorn and the Aviator Deep Freeze—were made without the “Ray-Ban” print on the lenses. Some other models had neither the Ray-Ban logo nor the “BL” etching on the lenses (e.g., the DGM Kalichrome Powderhorn mentioned earlier).
Again, these are being sold AS-IS. I do NOT issue returns or make guarantees. So please look at the pictures and make your own decision before purchase. If you can overlook the flaking of the Tortuga wrap and the wacky screw, these actually are pretty nice to wear. The brown B-15 lenses are very clear to see out of.
These come alone. I’m not selling them with a case or cloth or anything.
