A sequel to the TV anime version that aired from April to September 2019, the film depicts the battles on the Infinity Train from the seventh and eighth volumes of the original comics.

The film grossed 40.43 billion yen in Japan, surpassing "Spirited Away"'s 31.68 billion yen[4] and becoming Japan's number one box office hit of all time[4]. It also recorded a worldwide box office of 507 million dollars, making it the number one film in the world at the annual box office in 2020[5].
