"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" is the second novel of the famous trilogy by the great French fiction writer Jules Verne (1828-1905). In the center of the story is the perilous and adventurous round-the-world journey of Captain Nemo and his friends on the Nautilus submarine. Captain Nemo, like the courageous Scotsman Captain Grant ("Captain Grant's Children"), who did not accept the loss of independence of his homeland, devoted his whole life to the struggle for the liberation of Scotland from British rule. Plunging into the depths of the ocean in a fantastic scientific laboratory, he does not find satisfaction in researching the underwater world and, turning to the pages of the third novel "The Mysterious Island".
