Listing Update...This is not so much an update as it is a brief comment about the computers and related parts I have available for sale. Personal computers (and in particular desktop computers) have always been a hobby of mine. I've enjoyed tinkering with this stuff over the years and have accumulated a number of items during this time...some new and some used. I am not an expert on the subject...more of an enthusiast...but I will still do my best to answer any questions as it relates to my computer related listings. Thank you.

Original Listing...
This offering is for a new (open box) MSI Codex mid tower computer case with a matching keyboard and mouse. It's probably best classified as a value or middle-of-the-road offering with a decent LED feature set. More specifically, this case has a separate LED (ARGB) hub in the back that includes six (6) standard 3-pin ARGB headers. This hub also includes cables/connectors that are not proprietary. In other words, if you choose to connect the hub to your motherboard (assuming it has an ARGB header), then that is easily done with a standard 3-pin ARGB cable/connector from this hub. Alternatively, if you need to power the hub directly from the power supply, then that is easily done as well, because the hub's power cable/connector is the 15-pin SATA standard. Finally, it's worth noting the case has a LED button on the front panel for those that do not have a motherboard with an ARGB header. I would still recommend matching this case with a motherboard that has ARGB capabilities, so that you can take advantage of the LED software provided by your motherboard manufacturer. Although, it's still nice to know this case offers some LED (ARGB) functionality on its own. A couple of other observations about this case...while I do like the power supply shroud, there is not a lot of room for a non modular power supply if you intend on using the 3.5" drive bays. I've built in this case a few times and a semi-modular or fully modular power supply is much easier to work with in this case.

In addition to the above, I also like the relatively sturdy construction with steel mesh incorporated into the front panel (for good airflow), a power supply shroud that extends the length of the case (which also conceals the two internal 3.5" drive bays) and the respectable front panel connectivity. I'm always appreciative of value oriented cases that include a pair of the same USB Type-A ports on the front panel. This is because each motherboard header that supports these front panel ports is capable of supporting a pair of such USB ports. So its nice to see that MSI gets it right with this case and includes two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports on the front panel. Then there is the ample room for building/cable management/expansion, including two 3.5" drive bays (for hard drives or SSDs), one internal 2.5" drive mount (for another SSD) and seven expansion slots (as pictured, I wasn't given dust covers for two of them...but your graphics card should fill them). Then there are the three (3) ARGB fans included at the front (for intake) with industry standard 5V (3-pin) female connectors that will plug into any motherboard (or the hub in this case) with similar 3-pin headers (and sync up with that motherboard manufacturers ARGB software). Another nice feature with these ARGB fan cables/connectors is that each cable also has a male connector that will allow for all three fans to be daisy-chained together. I don't know that there would be any reason to do this with the aforementioned hub that will accommodate up to six (6) ARGB devices, but if you were ever running short on ARGB headers between the hub and motherboard, then daisy chaining these ARGB fans together would free up some headers. Finally a traditional 12V cable splitter is included so that all three front intake fans may be connected to one 4-pin header on the motherboard to power (spin-up) the fans. Lastly their is a fourth MSI branded fan mounted at the rear for exhaust. Although this fan is all black with no LED lighting effects.

The next question is probably something along the lines of how did I end up with this new case and matching keyboard/mouse. The short answer (for me at least) is I bought a number of new (pre-built) systems where the graphics cards had been removed during the graphics card crunch a handful of years ago. In just about all of these purchases, the parts selection was somewhat odd. So I ended up stripping down each pre-built for the parts. In some instances, I used the parts in other builds (with a more sensible matching of parts) and in other instances I simply sold the parts individually. These few remaining cases fall into the latter category, where I do not have a need and will make them available for someone else to build out. Although, before you consider one of these cases, let me share a few other practical thoughts that may affect your build. These cases were originally spec'd with Micro ATX motherboards, so there were only a handful of motherboard standoffs previously installed. I have since installed some more standoffs (there are now nine in total), so that you can install an ATX motherboard without any problems. Additionally, I have included nine (9) matching motherboard screws (that are currently threaded into each of the standoffs). I really don't have any other accessories to include with the case. Now if you are someone that wants one one of these cases and there is some small accessory that you really need (and do not have), please don't hesitate to ask. If I have some extras in whatever you need, I will be happy to include them at no extra charge.

Having said all of the above, I thought it might also be helpful if I shared a spec sheet of sorts that highlights some of the primary computer case features:

  • Basic Description (type/color): Mid tower with a ventilated top and front panel/bezel (with steel mesh) and a black finish

  • Case Material: mostly steel with a windowed (tempered) side panel and a plastic front panel/bezel

  • Motherboard Compatibility: ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX

  • Dimensions (H x W x D): 17.72" x 8.27" x 17.32"

  • Weight: 12.72 lbs.

  • Front Panel Ports: two blue USB Type-A (3.2 Gen 1 running at 5 Gb/s), an audio input (microphone) and an audio output (speaker/headphone)...there is also a hard drive LED, an on/off button with a LED indicator, a reset button and a RGB button...the latter controls addressable RGB components connected to the hub on the backside of the case

  • Expansion: Two 3.5" drive bays (for hard drives), one 2.5" drive bay/mount (for SSDs) and seven expansion slots

  • Fan Options: Front (3x 120 mm / 3 included or 2 x 140 mm), top (2 x 120 mm or 2 x 140 mm) and rear (1 x 120 mm / included)

  • Radiator Options (max size): Front (360 or 280 mm), top (240 mm) and rear (120 mm)

  • Peripherals: MSI branded keyboard and mouse set. It's a budget-friendly wired keyboard and mouse set with backlit LEDs. So this combo set is nothing special, but it's new and will come in it's original factory box.

  • Other: There is a removable filter on the bottom of the case (under which the power supply fan will be positioned). This will need to be removed and cleaned periodically to keep good (cool) airflow entering into the power supply unit.

In terms of condition, this is a new case and will be shipped in it's original box with all the factory foam packing to ensure safe transit. So again, it's effectively a new case, but I am calling it an open box offering, because of it's history as a new pre-built system that has been stripped of all its parts (to the point where this offering is for just the case, as described above, with a matching keyboard and mouse).

Note to domestic customers regarding oversized package shipping...
For domestic packages, FedEx Ground or FedEx Home Delivery Service generally offers the lowest ground shipping rate for oversized packages in the continental US (i.e., the "Lower 48"). My domestic shipping costs to Alaska, Hawaii and the US Territories are much higher. It's also worth noting if cost is not as much of an issue (or if you prefer US Postal Services "USPS" over FedEx), then USPS Priority Mail service is generally the most timely of the domestic shipping options.

Note to international customers regarding oversized package shipping...
International shipping requirements vary for larger packages (including size limitations from country to country). As a result, international customers should contact us before purchasing larger items. We are then able to research shipping options to determine if we are able to ship a particular oversized item to your country and then provide an accurate shipping quote. This way we will avoid any confusion or misunderstanding with respect to international shipping of oversized packages.

Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
