This Devonian trilobite, Metacanthina issoumourensis, comes from Morocco- found in the Laghdad Formation in the Mhrach Taouz region. Metacanthina, is often labelled as Hollardops, but the two are separate and distinct.
The fossil measures 2.0 inches long and 1.1 inches wide. The entire specimen (trilobite and matrix) measures 3.3 inches long, 2.45 inches wide and 1.2 inches high. Schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes.
There is a repair running diagonally across the thorax. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure.
All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
