URUSHI PEN Red Urushi Limited Edition Fountain Pen. Year 1991. Serial number: 025/91. Clip engraved "Urushi".
Warranted 14 Karat Pen "GK" Nib with a charming original patina.
Never used, never inked. Rare.

This is N°25 out of the 200 pieces produced in 1991. Bought in 1991 from Ercolessi pen shop in Milan, Italy.
The specific rolled sheet of paper with the title “Urushi Pen - Lacca Giapponese” included in the black squared Visconti display box describes, in Italian, the virtues of the “lacca giapponese” (urushi, of course) and speaks of its long history.
It also includes instructions on how to fill and use the pen. but not naming any pf the real producers of the pen.
Finally, it declares that the pen was part of a limited edition of 200 pens per year, but it does not disclose for how long.
This particular unit was made in 1991 as it is numbered as 25/91. In all probability, The plan was to make some every year, but they stopped production.
As cleverly pointed out by Bruno Taut (Crónicas Estilográficas) the pen is, most likely, a Ban-ei made by Sakai Eisuke (lathe work), Kabutogi Ginjiro (nib), Tsuchida Shuichi (assembly), and Takahashi Kichitaro (urushi coating).

Excerpt from the specific leaflet (Italian language only):
Urushi Pen - Lacca Giapponese
Produzione limitata e numerata:
L’Urushi pen viene prodotta in soli 200 esemplari all’anno. Questo è il numero 25/91.
