This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a William Edenborn patent dated March 17, 1885.  This wire is called "Edenborn's Locked In Two Point Hanging Barb" by  collectors. (ref Hagemeier 298-B). VARIATION (Hagemeier Number is for the basic Edenborn Barb . I could find no listing for the hanging barb).   This wire features two twisted together round line wires.  Barbs are two pointed made from round wire.  One point is inserted between the line wires and remainder makes a wrap around both line wires.  Both Points are in the same direction.    Wire sample is 18" in length and has four barbs.   Barbs are well spaced, and cut is  well centered. Wire shows heavy oxidation.  There is somet bending of points, but no broken or missing barbs.
