Intéressante pièce relative à la remise de peine du condamné Richard
Late qui, devant purger une peine de 3 mois, bénéficiera d’une remise de peine
de 6 semaines.
« To
the governor of our prison at wakefield And all others whom it many concern,
greeting ! Whereas Richard Laite was at the county Petty sessions siiting
at Barnsley on the twelfth day of april, 1944, convicted of three offences
against Regulation 58A the Defence (General) Regulations, 1939, and sentenced to
imprisonment for three consecutive terms of one month : Now know ye that
we in consideration, consideration of some circumstances humbly represented
unto us, are graciously pleased to extend our grace and mercy unto the said
Richard Laite and to pardon and remit unto him six weeks of the sentence passed
upon him as aforesaid : our will and pleasure therefore is that you cause
the said Richard Laite to be discharged out of custody accordingly ; And
for so doing this shall be a sufficient warrant given at our court at St James
the twenty-fifth day of april 1944, in the eighth year of our reign ».
