A "CHOCOLATE" DIAMOND
5.6mm x 5.15mm
1.14 carat Asscher Cut
Very Slightly-Included
Rio Tinto produces over 1/3 of
the world's annual Brown Diamond production (75M cts). These were historically used
for industrial purposes, until the jewelry company Le Vian established a brown diamond Color-Grading System (à la Liddicoat) and launched a massive marketing campaign
to promote the stone (which successfully conflated the joys of eating with the
desire for gems).
They have also been called brown diamonds and champagne diamonds. Whatever words someone might choose to describe this stone, it is undeniably beautiful with very few inclusions.
