THIS GERMANY
THE STORY SINCE THE THIRD REICH
(RUDOLPH WALTER LEONHARDT)
‘The Germans
are extremists!’
‘The Germans
don't know the meaning of freedom!’
‘The Germans
glorify war!’
‘The Germans
are arrogant in victory, Craven in defeat!’
Rudolph Walter
Leonhardt is a German. He knows what the
world says about his countrymen. Here in
a book which has sold by the hundred thousand he looks squarely at the Germany which
has arisen since the death of Hitler in 1945.
‘These
reproaches,’ he writes, ‘have one embarrassing quality: they are half-truths. We will just have to let them be what they are
– talk. But I have a suggestion. Come with me. Let us take a closer look at this Germany.’
