This is the 1948 Montgomery Ward Semiannual Report, Office of Director, Interior Decoration, Industrial Design.
In post WWII America "Planned Interior Design", which was once a luxury that only the wealthy could afford, was becoming an integral part of retail store sales.  Creating Interior Decoration Departments would help shoppers know what wallpaper to buy with what carpet.

This Montgomery Wards report was a review of how their stores were racing to keep up with all the thousands of homes being built, that needed to be decorated!

Cardboard covers on the report.  Lots of samples and designs.
The book tells an amazing story, but is falling apart. The glue that was used is failing and samples may be missing.  See pictures.

Still a great piece of history.
