Analysis of the Late Correspondence between our
Administration and Great Britain & France with an Attempt to Show what are
the Real Causes of the Failure of the Negotiation by John R Lowell. Printed by Russell & Cutler, Boston. Sewn binding. One of a series
of pamphlets issued by the New England Federalist on the rising diplomatic
tensions between the United States and Great Britain following the
Chesapeake-Leopold Affair of 1807. Twelve polemics aimed at American foreign
relations in the years leading up to the War of 1812. Originally published in
12 points, this Boston edition published earlier the same year only printed 10
of the pieces. Lowell argues prophetically that Jefferson's policy of slavish
submission to France and hostility to Britain will lead to war. Quite rough
around the edges, but still complete. See scans.
