Vintage Handmade Pottery Ceramic Glaze Figurine of Beautyful Miniature Sheep 60s

FOLK POTTERY

This product is a work of folk art. Such items, small and large, were made from clay by hand by master potters. Each figurine was a work of art, and basically it was rare to find two of the same, that is, the figurine  were almost never repeated. The sculptures were produced at the Art Ceramics plant, which was located in the city of Oposhnya, Poltava region and operated from 1929-2002. In addition, other master potters made many products at home. To date, such sculptures are not produced.

They look very impressive and can decorate any interior. This sculpture was made between 1960 and 1970.

Manufacturing technique: Clay, Pottery Wheel, Glaze (green & brown), Modelling Clay, Identation by Fingers. 

This ceramic figure is made using a very rare technique called - "noodles", where small and thin thread-like pieces of clay are attached one to one and thus a figurine is obtained.


Such sculptures are stored in private collections and in Museum of Ukrainian Folk and Decorative Art, National Centre of Folk Culture " Ivan Honchar Museum" and others Museums of Ukraine.

Such sculptures were intended not only for interior decoration, but also for storing drinks. This sculpture depicts a Sheep.
