This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874.  This wire is called "This wire is called Glidden's Two Point Barb on One of Two Equal Sized Square Lines"  by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 410-B). This wire features two twisted together line wires, both of which are square in cross section.  Line wires are of the same size.  Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire.  Wire is wrapped twice around one line wire.       Wire sample is 18" in length.   Wire sample shows some pitting. There is light bending of barbing points, but no breaks, missing points, or repairs.
